McIntosh Drive and Hocking Avenue Multi-use Pathway and Road Upgrades
Both of these projects were tendered under the 2025 Active Transportation Upgrades project to create connections to already existing bike lanes, multi-use pathways and trails. The multi-use pathway and road upgrades will create a safe route for active transportation users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Timeline
Work will begin in the spring and is scheduled to be completed in the fall.
Hocking Avenue Improvements
The multi-use pathway will connect the Valley Rail Trail to McIntosh Drive.
This project includes the following works:
- Full-depth asphalt removal and reinstallation.
- Removal of existing curb, gutter, sidewalk, and roadway.
- Installation of a new barrier-type curb and gutter, continuous asphalt multi-use pathway, driveway restoration, wheelchair letdowns and sections of landscape boulevard.
- Storm drainage works including catch basin relocations and installations and tie-in to storm mains.
- Roadway and pathway road markings and signage changes.
- Boulevard landscaping, including street trees and property restoration.
- Traffic signal upgrades including the removal of 4 existing signal poles and bases and replacement with 2 new signal poles.
McIntosh Drive Improvements
Improvements will occur on McIntosh Drive from Hocking Avenue to 45530 McIntosh Drive.
This project includes the following works:
- Full-depth asphalt removal and reinstallation.
- Installation of new barrier-type concrete curb and gutter, a continuous 3m-wide asphalt multi-use pathway, concrete driveway and wheelchair letdowns and grass and tree lined boulevard.
- Replacement and commissioning of an existing street light with service base and relocation of 4 additional street lights.
- Storm drainage works including relocation, adjustment of existing catch basins and installation of new catch basins.
- Changes to roadway markings and signage.
- Boulevard landscaping awith street trees and property restoration works.
