Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB)
Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) are highly visible, strobe-like devices activated by pedestrians or cyclists who are intending to cross at a crosswalk. These flashing crosswalks, in combination with pedestrian warning signage, are intended to increase a driver’s awareness of people crossing. A RRFB does not change the legal requirements that pedestrians and cyclists are to follow when crossing.
