In the event of extreme weather, storytime will be moved indoors. This community program is brought to you in part by funding provided by the City of Chilliwack.

Thursty Elk is a back-country trail running event traversing the Elk-Thurston Mountain Range. There are 3 distance options, 25km epic course, 5km fun run and 1km kids run. The event is designed to be family-friendly with something for everyone at every age interested in outdoor adventure running. This is the first running event of its kind to be hosted crossing this terrain and into the Chilliwack River Valley. The inaugural run was scheduled July 4, 2020, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic this event was canceled two years in a row. The first event was held July 9, 2022 with a total of 89 participants finishing the 25k distance, 54 in the 5k and 22 in the kids run. Proceeds from the event are donated to local community organizations focused on the outdoors and/or active living programming for youth. Since 2019 over $13,400 has been donated to the Chilliwack Park Society from our annual race proceeds – Loop the Vedder Trail Half Marathon & 10km and last year's Thursty Elk

The Terry Fox Ride has riders riding 360km from Port Coquitlam (Terry Fox Hometown Square) to Vedder Park in Chilliwack with an RCMP Motorcycle Escort. We will end at Vedder Park where will riders will be picked up by their families. We will not be arriving until 7pm or 7:30pm.We will be entering the park from Vedder Mountain Road, onto Vedder Road and then on to Petawawa.
