The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve will be hosting our annual Family Nature Festival March 31st & April 1st, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm! Join us for a day full of kid-friendly activities to get you and your loved ones outdoors and connected with nature and your community. Come explore the nature reserve on guided tours, take a mindfulness class with our Yoga instructor, try your hand at children's and adult's art classes with an accomplished local artist, bring the little ones for a visit to our craft station and touch tables, and more! Plus, you'll have a chance to connect with local conservation & community organizations - Streams Foundation Canada, Fraser Valley Conservancy, & Coastal Painted Turtle Project - and hear about the amazing work being done to protect nature in our area! All events are free thanks to our amazing volunteers and partner organizations. No registration is required to attend.

The annual City-Wide Reading Challenge, open to people of all ages, is returning from April 10-30! Read as many days as you can from April 10-30. What qualifies? Books, graphic novels, audiobooks, podcasts and more. Who can participate? People of all ages! Track your reading however you want – on your phone, a notepad, or our printable tracker/ballot (colour version; black and white version). If you miss some days, that’s okay. At the end of the challenge, enter a prize draw by: • completing the online form at bit.ly/CLSreadingchallenge • emailing a photo of your tracker/ballot to [email protected] or • dropping off your tracker/ballot at Sardis, Chilliwack or Yarrow Library. Submit your ballot by May 7 to enter the draw. Prize winners will be contacted by phone or email on May 12. One ballot per participant, please. Prizes will be picked up at Chilliwack, Sardis or Yarrow libraries.
