Parking Without Sign Regulations

Parking regulations may be in effect whether or not there is a sign. Common parking regulations without a sign include:

Crosswalks
Parking is not allowed on a crosswalk or within 6 metres of the approach side of a Crosswalk.

Driveways
Parking is not allowed in front of a public or private driveway.

Intersections
Parking is not allowed in, or within, 10 meteres of an intersection. An intersection is where two roads meet.

Fire Hydrants
Vehicles are not allowed to park within 5 metres of a fire hydrant, measured from a point in the curb or edge of the roadway closest to the fire hydrant.

Cul-de-sacs
Vehicles parking in cul-de-sacs reduce the turnaround area available for travelling vehicles and is therefore not permitted.

Sidewalks
Parking is not permitted on sidewalks. As sidewalks are designed for use of pedestrians, vehicles parked on any portion of a sidewalk may cause pedestrians to enter traffic to get around the parked vehicle. When a vehicle is parked in a driveway that has a sidewalk at the end of it, the vehicle must not hang over or encroach the sidewalk.

Parking on Streets Maximum Time
Vehicles that are parked legally and not time limited by any posted signs may stay in the same location without moving for up to 7 days, or 72-hours in select neighbourhoods including Garrison Crossing and Rivers Edge.

Bike Lanes
Parking on a bike lane is not permitted.
