Sub Neighbourhood Park

This Park has remained an open and passive area since the removal of all non-conforming equipment in the early part of 2000. The Park was identified in the Community Play Structure Program as a 2013 priority “in fill” opportunity.

The principal challenge of this project was the topography. Most of the Park was almost 40cm lower than the surrounding properties and road. The solution was to import and shape over 300 cubic meters of fill and top soil into a flowing, undulating grade around the play area. A temporary path has been installed to provide access to the new equipment as the grass has a chance to geminate.

The RFP requested play elements for both age groups (2-5 and 5-12 years of age). This structure satisfied the request and separates the play areas with a challenging large leaf pod climbing element. Swing sets and slides for each age group complete this perfect neighbourhood park.

Residents have voiced their appreciation of this improvement in person and by email
