Curbside Collection Program - Recycling, Compostables and Garbage

The City’s new curbside collection contractor is Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S). E360S is the same contractor that has been operating the Bailey Sanitary Landfill since 2021 and the annual Household Hazardous Waste Day Event since 2024. E360S provides waste management services for many municipalities across Canada.

Beginning May 1, 2026, the collection frequency of recycling and glass will change. Your collection day will remain the same. Visit the Collection Schedule page to view the May-December 2026 Calendar. 

Compostable waste (combined food and yard waste) will continue to be collected weekly. Residents will use their existing green cart, unless a size exchange is requested or a cart replacement is required for wildlife-resistant carts.

 Garbage will be collected bi-weekly (once every two weeks), alternating with recycling. Residents will be provided with a black garbage cart.

 Recycling will be collected bi-weekly (once every two weeks), alternating with garbage. Residents will be provided with a blue recycling cart. Because large carts (up to 360L) are available, all recyclable materials will need to be placed inside of the recycling cart. Residents should break down or cut up cardboard boxes to place inside the blue cart.

 Glass will be collected manually once per month, at the same time as flexible plastics. Residents will continue to use their 27L grey bin.

 New! Flexible Plastics will be collected manually once per month, at the same time as glass. Residents will be provided with a 57L pink bin and lid.

In the new curbside program, garbage, recycling and compostable waste will be collected in an automated collection system. Glass and flexible plastics will be collected manually by waste crews. Only carts and bins provided by the City will be accepted in the new curbside collection program. 

Residents will keep their existing green cart, unless an exchange is requested or required (ie. homes in wildlife issue areas). Residences were provided with a grey bin for glass packaging in 2019. For information on replacement grey bins, visit the Carts and Containers page.

All residences will receive a 57L pink bin with a lid for flexible plastics. The pink bin will be delivered seperately in June 2026. 

Flexible plastics are any plastics that can be bent or shaped without breaking. This includes plastic bags and overwrap, stand-up and zipper lock pouches, bubble wrap, woven and net plastic bags, and crinkly food packaging. 

Flexible plastics break easily, get tangled in machinery, and are more difficult to sort, requiring them to be kept separate from other curbside recyclables. While currently only accepted at Recycling Depots, starting in June 2026, flexible plastics will conveniently be collected at curbside in a pink bin. Residents may have a green cart they no longer need for the following reasons:

• They received a new wildlife-resistant green cart; 
• They ordered an exchange or replacement cart during cart selection;
• They are reducing the number of services on their property.

If the old green cart is not returned, a monthly fee for the additional green cart will be charged to the property owner.  

Residents may choose to keep their garbage and recycling bins for personal use. Residents who no longer need their garbage/ recycling bins or have an additional green cart(s) may drop them off at the Bailey Landfill Recycling Depot.
