Paving Program
Current Works
Paving is weather dependent so schedules can change. Traffic will be single lane alternating while paving is being completed. Please expect delays.
The contractor is paving Annis Road from Yale Road to the Trans-Canada Highway. Work began at the end of August and is scheduled to be completed at the end of October.
Other roads being paved in October are:
- Blackburn Road - Sinclair Road to South Sumas Road
- Giesbrecht Road - Vedder Mountain Road to Dike North of Duncan Road
- Yale Road - Menzies Street to Windsor Street
- Ryder Lake Road - Ross Road to Extrom Road
- Bailey Landfill - section of landfill access

Information on the Paving Program
Each year the City of Chilliwack tenders asphalt rehabilitation work for various roads to maintain the driving surface and reduce maintenance costs.
Typically the Engineering Department recommends rehabilitation of roads based on a condition survey which is updated every 5 years. The most recent survey was completed in 2023.
Minor drainage as well as curb and gutter improvements will be made adjacent to rehabilitation projects where significant deterioration has occurred or upgrades are required.
The Engineering Department coordinates both the timing and scope of work with the Operations, Development, and Utility Departments. This coordination avoids unnecessary utility cuts in newer asphalt, increases cost efficiencies and minimizes impacts to residents.
