MAIL BALLOT VOTING

On June 21, 2022, the City adopted “Mail Ballot Voting Procedures Bylaw 2022, No. 5183”, which gives authorization and sets out procedures with respect to Local Government Elections for conducting Mail Ballot Voting.

Tuesday, September 6, 2022 voter's can start requesting mail ballot packages.

Mail ballot requests are no longer available as of 3:00 pm Oct 13, 2022.

Personal information contained within the request form is collected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Sections 26(a) and 26(c) and will be used only for the purpose of the mail ballot voting process for the 2022 election pursuant to the Local Government Act Section 110. Once the mail ballot packages are finalized  those who requested a package will be notified they are ready to pick up. Those who requested mail out will be sent out for mailing. 

October 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm will be the final date and time to request a mail ballot package.

Packages can be picked up at City Hall or mailed out with instructions on how to complete and return a ballot. If someone is picking up a package for someone else they will be required to provide authorization stating they can do so, along with 2 pieces of identification, one having a picture.

If you have selected to 'pick up' a mail ballot package, you will receive an email stating it is ready for pick up. 

If you have selected to have your mail ballot package mailed, your package will just be mailed out.

Areas D, E and H of the Fraser Valley Regional District may apply for a mail ballot package to vote for School District No. 33 Trustee through the City of Chilliwack website. 

Completed ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours or dropped off at City Hall's drop box, available seven days a week, 24 hours a day up to and including 8:00 pm on general voting day.

PLEASE NOTE:

Voting places will not be receiving mail ballots. Please drop off your mail ballots at City Hall only.

Mail ballots must be received by the end of voting on October 15,2022 at 8:00 pm.

It is the voter's responsibility to ensure ballots are returned on time. Ballots received after 8:00 pm on October 15,2022 will not be counted.

Due to the potential for postal delays, residents are encouraged to drop off their ballots at City Hall.
