Housing Needs Report
The City completed the 2024 Interim Housing Needs Report to update the 5- and 20- year housing needs of the 2020 report, as required by the Province, following a prescribed method. The interim report will become part of the 2050 Official Community Plan update.
In 2020, the City completed its first Housing Needs Report to identify housing needs in our community, focusing on affordability and demand for different housing types. The study included qualitative interview data in addition to a comprehensive breakdown of demographic and economic data.
In addition to Housing Needs Reports, the City continues to focus on addressing housing affordability and homelessness through partnerships, strategies and policy development. Key City housing initiatives include working closely with Chilliwack Healthier Community and overseeing the 2016 Homelessness Action Plan and Official Community Plan housing policies.
