Sanitary Forcemain Upgrade

Forcemain Upgrades - Hodgins Avenue and Wolfe Road

This project was completed in September 2026. The sanitary forcemain underwent upgrades and the road is now paved.

 Project Details

Sanitary pump station #1 (SPS #1), located at Chilliwack Landing, and its associated 600 mm diameter forcemain (conveyance pipe) along Hodgins Avenue and Wolfe Road provide sewage services to a significant portion of northern Chilliwack, including Little Mountain, Fairfield Island, and much of Chilliwack Proper.  The SPS #1 Forcemain Replacement Project involves replacing approximately 970 metres of aging infrastructure along Hodgins Avenue and Wolfe Road, from Dyke Road to Sunset Drive. The proposed 900 mm diameter forcemain will increase overall system capacity, support future development, and enhance the reliability and resilience of the sewer system in this area, particularly during extreme weather events.

Schweyey Road Forcemain Upgrades

This project was completed in June 2026. The sanitary forcemain was upgraded, and the road is paved.

Project Details

A 200 mm diameter sanitary forcemain (conveyance pipe) along Schweyey Road provides sewage services for Chilliwack Mountain and portions of Industrial Way and Progress Way. The Schweyey Road Forcemain Replacement project involved replacing approximately 230 metres of infrastructure along Schweyey Road. The new 500 mm diameter High-Density Polyethylene forcemain will increase overall system capacity, and support development and catchment area growth.

What is a Forcemain?

A forcemain, or a pressurized sewer pipe, is used to transport sewage or wastewater from a low-lying area to a higher elevation using pumps. They are used when gravity cannot transport wasterwater from one area to the next.
