The City of Chilliwack is committed to preserving and enhancing our natural environment. The Environmental Services Section oversees a wide variety of programs and initiatives involving waste management, biodiversity, air and water quality, and climate change. In addition to sustainable City operations, our programs foster community and individual responsibility in environmental protection and enhancement.

Alternatives to Pesticides
Pesticides are among the most widely-used chemicals in the world, but are also among the most hazardous to human health, sometimes causing serious acute and chronic health effects. Alternatives to pesticides are generally more appropriate and less harmful to humans and the environment in the long run. Making a difference in the environment can begin in our own backyards!

With the support and interest of the local community and the Friends of the Bell Slough, the City will be investigating hydraulic connectivity and ecological restoration of the Bell Slough.
