An increasing number of people

are commuting to school or work

on a bicycle while many simply ride

for fun or exercise. With so much

traffic on the road, it’s important that

motorists and cyclists work together

and understand their roles and

responsibilities and share the road.

Cyclists must yield to pedestrians,

stop for stop signs, and obey traffic

signals, for example. It’s best to

remember that if you are riding a

bicycle, then by law, you have the

same duties as a driver of a vehicle.

If you dismount and walk alongside

your bicycle, then by law, you are

considered a pedestrian and have

the same rights as a pedestrian.

These maps are produced

as a guide to consumer

cycling opportunities in the

City of Chilliwack. The City, its

employees, officers, directors, and

representatives do not guarantee

the accuracy of the information

contained therein nor warrant

the safety of any route, highway,

road, street, designated cycling

route or other shown in the map or

other information. Cycling can be

hazardous, especially in high traffic

areas. Extreme caution should be

used at all times.
