Knight Road and Mary Street Cycling Improvements
Background
Knight Road from Evans Road to east of Topaz Drive and Mary Street from Hodgins Avenue to Princess Avenue underwent preliminary design, public consultation and detailed engineering design for active transportation infrastructure and accessibility improvements along these corridors.
This project has been tendered and awarded under the 2024 Active Transportation – Knight & Mary Cycling Improvements Project and include the following works:
Knight Road
- Asphalt resurfacing
- Storm drainage works
- Concrete medians to create protected bike lanes
- Location adjustments and pedestrian bulges for transit stops
- Pedestrian bulge at the mid block crosswalk and RRFB (flashing crosswalk) relocation
- Upgrades to signage and road markings
Location of the new cycling facility on Knight Road
Mary Street
- Adjustment of angled parking stalls to parallel in order to create on-street bike lanes
- Installation of pedestrian bulges at two intersections with landscaping
- Storm drainage works
- Resurfacing of the asphalt roadway
- Upgrades to signage and roadway markings

Timeline
Construction is scheduled for May and June with completion estimated for the end of October 2024.
