2023 Annual Report I CITY OF CHILLIWACK CITY OF CHILLIWACK I 2023 Annual Report 60 61 CHILLIWACK ECONOMIC PARTNERS CORPORATION (CEPCO) The Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Chilliwack, with its own volunteer Board of Directors representing local businesses and community stakeholders. CEPCO’s efforts seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for the community. This is accomplished through business attraction, retention and expansion, workforce attraction and promotion, site selection assistance, immigration investment and other related supports and services. CEPCO maintains strategic community and government stakeholder partnerships. The Chilliwack Agricultural Commission, Chilliwack Creative Commission and Chilliwack Innovation Network provide outlets and platforms for community economic growth. CEPCO continues to be the lead agency involved in the award-winning development of Canada Education Park that includes the University of the Fraser Valley, RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre, Canada Border Services Agency and Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary/Middle School. 2023 HIGHLIGHTS www.businessinchilliwack.com www.lifeinchilliwack.com ✅ CEPCO. ƒCelebrated 25 years of attracting and facilitating economic growth and investment. ✅ Health Care. ƒContinued partnership with the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice to provide prospective physicians with community tours. ƒProvided administrative support for the Chilliwack Hospital Foundation. ✅ Downtown Revitalization. ƒContinued construction at District 1881 and the new Chilliwack Community Services building, located at the former Paramount property. ƒContinued redevelopment of buildings on Wellington Avenue. ƒCompleted additional parking spaces in partnership with the City of Chilliwack. ✅ Chilliwack Creative Commission. ƒAssisted Chilliwack Independent Film Festival in expanding its industry component. ƒHosted monthly event, Creative Third Thursdays, at Cowork Chilliwack. ƒWorked with the film industry to facilitate the production of movies, documentaries and commercials. ✅ Chilliwack Search and Rescue. ƒSupported development of the new $3.7M facility that will improve the operational capacity of BC's third busiest search and rescue organization. ✅ Industrial Land Development. ƒSouthern Irrigation opened a new head office on the former Pick-A-Part property after successful redevelopment of this high-profile land. ƒConstruction began on a new 150-room Marriott brand hotel located at Highway 1 and Lickman Road. ✅ Fraser Valley Alliance (FVA). ƒCommunities worked together to produce video and marketing content for the FVA website to attract investment to the Fraser Valley region with a focus on agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, clean tech and aerospace. ✅ Agriculture Education. ƒCollaborated with Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce to produce a video series featuring messages from local agriculture and farming communities about environmental and economic impacts, animal welfare and food security. ƒHosted the 22nd Annual Chilliwack Agriculture Tour which included stops at Rainbow Greenhouses, Dicklands Farms, Dicklands Biogas and Farmhouse Brewing Company.
