City of Chilliwack 13 The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) function of IT maintains detailed cadastral mapping information that tracks exact lot lines, properties, right of ways, setbacks, zonings and the location of sewer and water utilities, manholes and fire hydrants. Information Technology T he Information Technology (IT) Department provides computer related technical support services to all City departments. These include: y y Website development and maintenance y y Programming services for in-house applications y y Technical help-desk support y y Network administration y y PC support y y Telecommunications y y Administration of all security systems y y Monitoring of Systems Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) programs which maintain flows and controls of the water and sewer systems y y Technical support and tips Finance The Finance Department is responsible for the financial management functions of the City. Finance staff liaise with all City departments and various external organizations, including the RCMP and the Fraser Valley Regional Library, to coordinate the City’s financial activities. The Finance Department is responsible for the development of the City’s annual Financial Plan (Budget), the annual financial statements, the annual review of the Development Cost Charge (DCC) Bylaw and the preparation of the Annual Report. Finance is also responsible for the external annual reporting of financial activities to the Province. This department’s functions include: y y Accounts receivable y y Accounts payable y y Payroll y y Collection of property taxes, water, sewer, curbside waste and recycling fees y y Safekeeping of all financial instruments y y Investment management y y Municipal government grant research y y Risk management
