14 City of Chilliwack 2017 Annual Report Recreation & Culture The Recreation & Culture Department takes a community development approach to providing cultural and leisure services to Chilliwack. This department works with various cultural groups, sports organizations, community associations, businesses, not-for-profit societies and service clubs in order to offer residents a wide variety of leisure opportunities. The Recreation & Culture Department is responsible for the coordination and delivery of cultural and leisure services in Chilliwack. This department operates and coordinates a number of facilities which include: y Evergreen Hall y The Landing Sports Centre y Twin Rinks Arena y 3 synthetic turf fields y 58 grass sports fields y 69 ball diamonds Funding for many of Chilliwack’s cultural programs is provided within the Recreation & Culture Department budget. These include: y Chilliwack Museum & Archives y Community schools y Senior resources y Youth services Recreation & Culture also coordinates the contracted operations of: y Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre y Cheam Leisure Centre y Chilliwack Cultural Centre y Chilliwack Heritage Park y Chilliwack Library/Sardis Library/Yarrow Library y Rotary Outdoor Pool y Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
