Community Parks

Mount Thom Park offers some challenging hiking opportunities with over 5km of trails accessible from three parking areas in Ryder Lake: Forester Road and Churchill Parkway, Ross Road and several trailheads in the Promontory area.

The park is a 70 hectare wooded area, including the summit and slopes of the 484 metre Mount Thom which offers spectacular views of Promontory and Cultus Lake.

The Lookout Loop Trail joins the Thom Creek Trail from Promontory and continues upward to a lookout with views of Cultus Lake, Promontory and Sardis.

Horse Loop Trail, Lookout Loop Trail and Ridgeline Trail

These trails on the Ryder Lake side of Mount Thom Park offer a variety of routes leading to the summit of Mount Thom.

  • Difficulty: moderate – gravel and dirt trails
  • Length: 2.6km / elevation gain - 105 to 125m
  • Parking: Forester Road, Churchill Parkway

Karver's Trail

Karver’s Trail, named after Karver Morford, connects Ross Road in Ryder Lake with the Thom Creek Trail in Mount Thom Park.

  • Difficulty: moderate – gravel & dirt trail
  • Length: 1.3km / elevation gain - 170m

Adopt a Park/ Adopt a Trail

The City of Chilliwack has partnered with a number of local organizations and non-profit groups to develop an Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Trail program. Groups volunteer their time to cleanup parks and trails in Chilliwack, to keep the community looking its best!
