| Description: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm This presentation documents the rejuvenation of the man-made spawning channels in what is now known as the Browne Creek Wetlands. It shows the development of additional channels as well as a new fresh-water intake from the Vedder River by the Department of Fisheries & Oceans. All disturbed land areas were re-vegetated with native plants by the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition and local volunteers. The show illustrates the wide range of plants and animals that inhabit and define the wetlands. All this is made accessible to walkers, joggers, equestrians, and cyclists by a first class trail system jointly funded by the City of Chilliwack Parks Operations and the Rotary Club of Chilliwack. Working together with DFO and FVWC allowed the construction of ecologically sensitive trails that combines comfortable walking with great sight-seeing – bird watching, plant identification, as well as spawning channels in action. |
