Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned expert, no matter your age, if you have interest learning the ukulele you’re welcome here! Bring your own ukulele from home, borrow one of the library’s Uke 'n Play Ukulele Kits, or use one provided by the club. This program is in partnership with the Chilliwack Academy of Music. While registration is not required for this free program, space is limited. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Michaela Stefan. , Michaela became a ballet dancer performing leading roles in international repertoires. She developed an interest in painting as another form of expression. Michael Hamilton-Clark. Is a self-taught local wood-turner and retired civil engineer who uses mostly locally available woods from felled trees, branch trimmings and mill offcuts.

Thursdays, January 26 -April 27, 10:30 am – 11 am Calling all Toddlers- if you’re a rambunctious tot from aprox. 18 months through 3 years (who is just a little too active for babytime) you’re welcome here! Bringing energy and fun to bounces, rhymes and songs we build coordination and social skills while building literacy and play!

2 pm – 3 pm Join the Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries Society on the first Wednesday of every month. This volunteer organization supports the library through advocacy, fundraising and assistance with various projects and programs. New friends are always welcome!

Friday, Feb 3 & Saturday, Feb 4, 10 am – 4 pm This year the Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries Society will be holding their annual sale at the Sardis Library! All types of puzzles are available, stock up at very reasonable prices. Don’t forget to bring in your gently used puzzles to Sardis Library starting January 3, 2017 to receive coupons for half price on selected puzzles.

Admission is one (1) non-perishable food item. Skate happens between 3:15pm - 4:45pm.

Tenant-Landlord Law 101. This informative session will be facilitated by Andrew Sakamoto of the Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre. Andrew has been working at TRAC for over seven years, and took over as Executive Director in 2013. During Andrew's time at TRAC, he has developed a passion for rental housing and improving access to justice for BC's 600,000+ tenant households.

12:30 pm – 2 pm Come and be amazed by a 3D Printer in action. Watch and learn about how this technology works, learn about the software needed to design for the 3D printer and maybe even walk away with a small 3D printer memento. The Fraser Valley MakerSpace is proud to showcase one of its 3D printers made locally in BC.

February 17 to March 20, 2017 at the Chilliwack Community Arts Council Art Room Gallery. Artist Meet & Greet on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. *Free to attend! Discover a common thread with the Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s next exhibition, Origins, featuring artist Anne Vivier-Manceau and photographer Mehtap Kizilirmak. On display from February 17 to March 20, 2017, this avant-garde exhibition connects the life experiences of this artistic duo through their own distinct mediums and styles. 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm This presentation documents the rejuvenation of the man-made spawning channels in what is now known as the Browne Creek Wetlands. It shows the development of additional channels as well as a new fresh-water intake from the Vedder River by the Department of Fisheries & Oceans. All disturbed land areas were re-vegetated with native plants by the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition and local volunteers. The show illustrates the wide range of plants and animals that inhabit and define the wetlands. All this is made accessible to walkers, joggers, equestrians, and cyclists by a first class trail system jointly funded by the City of Chilliwack Parks Operations and the Rotary Club of Chilliwack. Working together with DFO and FVWC allowed the construction of ecologically sensitive trails that combines comfortable walking with great sight-seeing – bird watching, plant identification, as well as spawning channels in action.

Kaleidoscope of Colours. To be presented by the Golden Palette Club at the O’Connor Group Art Gallery on Feb. 23 to April 1, 2017. From 12 noon to 5 pm, Wednesday through Saturday. A perfect title for our exhibit as its definition is: a variegated changing of patterns or scenes. Be prepared to be amazed! Reception Saturday Feb. 25th, 1 to 3 pm.

Compete in teams of 4 (come as a team or come alone and we will create a team) and be the first to finish a 500 piece puzzle. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place! Light refreshments will be provided. Please register early as space is limited!

Come out on February 25th for coffeehouse hot drinks, time to settle in with a freestyle craft, and a "Painting from the Heart" workshop hosted by Expressive Arts Coach Michele Brown. Suggested donation of $10 includes supplies and a hot drink. If the cost is a concern for you, don't worry about it--no one will be turned away at the door. It's cold out there, so let's do something about it! Join us, as we walk for the homeless, hungry and hurting. The Coldest Night of the Year is a nationwide walk-a-thon to raise money for local organizations working with homeless, hurting, and hungry individuals in their community.Money raised through the Coldest Night of the Year in Chilliwack goes to Cyrus Centre Chilliwack. Cyrus Centre is a non-profit organization that offers 24 hour a day support to homeless and vulnerable youth in the Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon. Cyrus Centre is the only emergency shelter for youth in the Fraser Valley. In 2017 Cyrus Centre hopes to expand it's current emergency shelter from 5 beds to 9. In order to do this, we need more funds! Money raised through the Coldest Night of the Year will go towards expanding Cyrus Centre Chilliwack's shelter. In September and October of 2016 Cyrus Centre had to turn away over 30 youth from our shelters because we were full every night. Expanding our shelter will ensure that more youth have access to emergency shelter and a safe warm place to sleep at night. 44% of homeless people in Chilliwack are youth.
