Free Skate for youth sponsored by the Optimist Club of Chilliwack - including skate rental and hot chocolate. Event is from 1-2:30 pm.

2 pm – 4 pm Paws 4 Stories is the Therapy Dog Community Service that promotes improvement in children’s reading skills. When a child reads with a dog, they start to relax and forget about feeling nervous about reading. Dogs make very supportive listeners! Therapy dogs and their volunteers will listen to children who want to practice reading aloud. This program will run Wednesdays from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm with 20 minute sessions. Please drop by or call the Yarrow Library to sign up.

7 pm – 8:30 pm Join in for lively discussions of selected titles. Chosen books will change monthly and copies are provided by the library. New members are welcome to join at any time.

9:30 am - 10 am Make language fun! Start early with Babytime. Help your baby develop speech and language skills — enjoy bouncing, singing and rhyming with stories. Babytime is a fun, social bonding activity for babies AND caregivers.

Although the primary work an actor can do in bringing a character or role to life is done through weeks of rehearsal seeing that role in costume often visually transforms the role and is a source of inspiration. This workshop will look at costumes and the important visual effect they may have.

7 pm – 8:30 pm All "uked" up and no place to jam? All levels of experience are welcome at our fun and relaxed ukulele circle. This program is in partnership with the Chilliwack Academy of Music. Space is limited. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

10:30 am – 12 pm Share ideas, learn new tips and tricks, solve research roadblocks, and learn the history of the area and era you are researching. The Genealogy Group welcomes new members.

A radio play written by Austin Stone, first broadcast live by BBC in 1953. Scene for the play, “An Affair of Honour” is based on a period in the life of Lola Montez, a well known Irish actress & dancer. who in 1844, had an ‘affair‘ with composer Franz Liszt a ‘dalliance’ with Alexandre Dumas and formed a romance with newspaper owner Alexandre Dujarier, Later, Lola became the ‘mistress’ of King Ludwig1 of Bavaria.

1 pm – 4 pm Celebrate Family Literacy Day, a day to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Bring your family to the library and choose from our large collection of children’s easy readers, novels and picture books in English and French. Enter the book draws and Spin the Wheel for a chance to win prizes!

11:30 am – 1 pm Come for an abundance of crafty goodness! We have string art, perler beads, paperclip book marks and other craft materials waiting for your imaginative touch. As an added bonus, there will also be an abundance of pizza to munch on! For ages 9 – 18. Registration is required, please drop by or call the Chilliwack library at 604-792-1941 to sign up.

Join our monthly BeTween Book Club and bring along your mom, grandpa, sister (you decide) who also loves to read! We read books, have lively discussions, eat snacks and meet other book lovers! Recommended for ages 9-13.
